Plain-English Summary
The proposal would establish a system to automatically provide federal disaster relief funds to states and communities affected by major disasters, rather than requiring them to request assistance after each event. This would help speed up recovery efforts for homeowners, businesses, and local governments dealing with hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. The measure is currently being reviewed by the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
