Plain-English Summary
The federal government would allow Native American tribes to manage their own food distribution programs on reservations through contracts with the Department of Agriculture, rather than having the government run these programs directly. This gives tribal organizations more control over how food assistance reaches their communities and allows them to tailor programs to their specific needs. The change affects Native American tribes and reservation residents who rely on federal food assistance programs.
