Plain-English Summary

The proposal would change federal food assistance rules to let people on Indian reservations receive benefits from both the food stamp program (SNAP) and the federal food distribution program at the same time, instead of having to choose one or the other. Currently, people can only be enrolled in one program, so this change would give Native American families more flexibility in how they get food assistance. The bill is still in early stages and has been sent to the Senate Agriculture Committee for review.
