[Congressional Bills 119th Congress] [From the U.S. Government Publishing Office] [S. 4736 Introduced in Senate (IS)] <DOC> 119th CONGRESS 2d Session S. 4736 To amend the Older Americans Act of 1965 to provide additional opportunities for older individuals to volunteer at facilities that serve older individuals or individuals in younger generations, and for other purposes. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES June 10, 2026 Ms. Hassan (for herself and Mr. Marshall) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To amend the Older Americans Act of 1965 to provide additional opportunities for older individuals to volunteer at facilities that serve older individuals or individuals in younger generations, and for other purposes. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Multigenerational Care and Support Act''. SEC. 2. DEMONSTRATION, SUPPORT, AND RESEARCH PROJECTS FOR MULTIGENERATIONAL AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES. Section 417 of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3032f) is amended-- (1) in subsection (a)-- (A) in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by striking ``projects,'' and all that follows through ``to--'' and inserting the following: ``projects to serve individuals in younger generations and older individuals by developing, carrying out, and promoting participation in multigenerational activities to--''; (B) in paragraph (2), by adding ``and'' at the end; (C) in paragraph (3), by striking ``opportunities for older individuals to become a mentor to individuals in younger generations; and'' and inserting ``opportunities-- ``(A) for older individuals to become mentors to individuals in younger generations; and ``(B) at facilities that serve older individuals or individuals in younger generations, at which multigenerational activities might occur.''; and (D) by striking paragraph (4); (2) in subsection (c)(2), by striking ``(4)'' and inserting ``(3)''; (3) in subsection (d)-- (A) by striking paragraph (1); and (B) by redesignating paragraphs (2) through (5) as paragraphs (1) through (4), respectively; (4) in subsection (g)-- (A) in paragraph (1), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking ``of enactment of the Supporting Older Americans Act of 2020,'' and inserting ``on which the first grant is awarded under this section following the date of enactment of the Multigenerational Care and Support Act,''; and (B) in paragraph (2), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking ``the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President pro tempore of the Senate'' and inserting ``the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate and the Committee on Education and Workforce of the House of Representatives''; and (5) in subsection (h)(1), by striking ``or a family support program.'' and inserting ``or a family support program, or a program at a multipurpose senior center, long-term care facility, or any other residential facility for older individuals.''. <all>
